Have just completed a very exciting collaboration with A Carved Piece to create an exquisitely designed and meticulously carved New Zealand falcon (Kārearea) in Pounamu (New Zealand Jade). Inspired by one of my pictures, this specially commissioned piece has been carved from a single block of stone. Was fascinating to watch and be part of Aaron Brown’s (Owner and Sculptor at A Carved Piece) creative process and literally see the bird take shape.

This image was selected as the ideal image for the project as while the head is turned around to make contact with the viewer, the beautiful patterning of the feathers down its back and the contour lines of its folded wings and tail is clearly visible.
